“When ‘Na Na Na’, the opening line of the incredibly catchy number ‘Night In Amsterdam’ is still resonating in your head three days later, I think we can safely say that this band is gonna blow your mind!”
A contemporary and seriously underestimated songwriter is back on the scene – big time!
Marcel Jansen is fronting his new Belgian/Dutch band ‘Jesus Jansen’ playing songs from their brand new album ‘Na Na Na’ which hit the streets in September.
Each of the eleven tracks on the album has its own identity and has something to say that goes straight to the heart.
Uncanny, experimental guitar sounds combine with Marcel´s warm and soulful voice to create an atmosphere reminiscent of Jeff Buckley and David Bowie. Guitarist Tom Veugen, drummer David Broeders and bass player Sophie van Schaik succeed in recreating this sort of feel perfectly in the live shows. (note: in another life, Marcel performed at the well known Dutch pop festival Pink Pop and made it to the final of the De Grote Prijs van Nederland)
Producer Wouter Budé made a great contribution to the album. Each song was built up layer for layer as if they were paintings. You get a subtle sense of the past when you listen to the album, a glance over your shoulder at the seventies and eighties. This is partly due to the authentic analog equipment which is one of Budé´s trademarks.
Jan Duyf, a great music lover, said of their gig to launch the CD: ´Jesus Jansen’ induces the joy of spring with the catchy tune of their new album’s title track. They bring you the cold shiver of winter when the talented four-some play their music with their characteristic passion. The warmth of summer is in their sultry sound and the subtle sadness of autumn when the show’s over - too soon. The audience got more than just a beautiful summer’s day..., they got Jesus Jansen as well...`
Jesus Jansen are: David Broeders, Tom Veugen, Sophie van Schaik & Marcel Jansen
